Performance-wise, pdf-tools may be better than the png rendered by ghostscript to convert the pdf. I've read about some success building pdf-tools on OSX for Emacs, but I've never played around with it. I have a list of choices I've set up when I open a file from dired-mode or a custom tree-view mode - dobe | review | kim | pdf | oc-view | efault. Use Skim.app instead - it can be called from the command-line or, you can use (start-process "skim-process" nil "open" "-a" "/Applications/Skim.app/Contents/MacOS/Skim" "/path/to/file/to/be/viewed")Įmacs can view PDF, but it is not a real substitute for a worthy external PDF reader.
